Los American Music Awards 2025 se celebraron en Las Vegas, y aunque prometían ser uno de los eventos más esperados de la industria musical, la gala dejó mucho que desear para varios asistentes y cibernautas. A pesar de haber anunciado presentaciones en vivo de artistas como Blake Shelton y Gwen Stefani, sus actuaciones fueron pregrabadas. Además, hubo cancelaciones inesperadas como la de Cara Delevingne, quien estaba programada como presentadora.
Jennifer Lopez fue la encargada de abrir la gala con un mashup de los nominados, donde llamó la atención la ausencia total de canciones de Taylor Swift, lo que inmediatamente levantó sospechas entre sus fans.
La gran sorpresa de la noche fue que Taylor Swift no ganó ni un solo premio, algo poco común en este tipo de premiaciones. En contraste, Billie Eilish fue la máxima ganadora, llevándose siete estatuillas, incluyendo Artista del Año, Álbum del Año y Artista Pop Femenina Favorita. Gracie Abrams se consolidó como Nuevo Artista del Año y, a pesar de liderar las nominaciones, Kendrick Lamar solo se llevó un premio a casa.
El evento también rindió homenaje a leyendas como Rod Stewart, Janet Jackson y Gloria Estefan, reconociendo su legado musical y trayectoria.
