From House and Techno to Big Room and Trap; the five day event of electronic music returned to host the world’s best parties and conferences.
In between the narrow river-lined streets of Amsterdam, Netherlands, 395,000 attendees from around the world turned up for Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) for workshops, conferences to multi-genre showcases and even raves. ADE has seen a massive increase in attendees travelling from China, Mexico and Morocco; focusing on bringing attention to their scenes. ADE continued to prove itself as the worldwide leader for electronic music exposure and gatherings with one thousand events taking place over five days.
Here are some of the highlights for this last years major gathering of artists, industry professionals and fans of the dance industry:
AMF
Amsterdam Music Festival at the Amsterdam Arena returned to celebrate it’s fifth anniversary with the upper echelon of artists in the dance industry; including sets from Marshmello, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Yellow Claw & Vini Vici. There was also a special feature from Hardwell and Armin Van Buuren, they came together as one to play to the major festival of Amsterdam Dance Event to own the night.
Amsterdam Music Festival also featured the DJ Top 100 by DJMag. The festival held announcements on LED screens throughout the night until the top ten DJ’s which were announced by special guest speakers. The top three this year included Martin Garrix (1), Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike (2) and Armin Van Buuren (3).
Awakenings
The Awakenings returned to Amsterdam this year for yet another five nights of the hottest techno music currently in the scene by the biggest names in the techno scene. Sets included at the famous Gasholder which was an old gas factory, it was turned into a 3,500 person capacity venue. The DJ’s who played here included Adam Beyer, Len Faki, Joris Voorn, Joseph Capriati, KiNK, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Sam Paganini and many more.
ASOT 836 – ADE Special
A State of Trance 836 returned for another special ADE edition with the world’s biggest Trance DJ’s including Armin van Buuren, Aly & Fila, Cosmic Gate, Protoculture and Standerwick x Ben Gold. ASOT 836 was a sold out show to the 5,500 capacity AFAS concert hall near to the Amsterdam ArenA. While Armin Van Buueren played his two hour set live to thousands worldwide; he announced special dates for ASOT 850.
Amsterdam Dance Event 2017 was an amazing experience for many with memories that will last. Amsterdam Dance Event 2018 would only be much bigger and better next year.
